The summer rains finally have started bringing with them hordes of mosquitoes and increased potential for the transmission of mosquito-borne disease. As part of the 2016 volunteer nature stewardship class presented by the Florida Medical Entomology Laboratory (FMEL) and the Pelican Island Audubon Society on February 13, Dr. Connelly will present Mysteries Uncovered: What Goes on at the FMEL, and Dr. Nathan Burkett-Cadena will talk about The birds, the bees, and the …. skeeters(?) – sex, bugs, and science. A tour of their laboratories will follow their talks.
