Throwback Thursday: Dog Days of Summer

Clipper takes a dip in the St. Sebastian River in 2012 to beat the heat, while Clemmie, the youngster, thinks about it. They had joined their human counterparts for a visit to the Cypress Bend Community Preserve …

Clipper came with Diane Morgan & John Warner. Clemmie accompanied John, Christoper & Tara Mactaggart. Pepper joined Janice Broda, who took these photos, and Bob Bruce.

Everyone — dogs and all — enjoyed the scenic beauty of this Indian River County Conservation Area. Purchased in 2006, Cypress Bend Community Preserve consists of 47.25 acres. 43 acres of the property, once known as Russell Groves, were a citrus grove, and directly along the St. Sebastian River are 2.5 acres of hydric hammock and 1.5 acres of freshwater wetlands.

A large open ruderal area allows for parking and for the dogs to have fun playing with a tennis ball.

Clipper gets ready for the throw ….

Pepper gets ready, too …

Clipper and Pepper have said good-bye to their earthen ties and now play ball together without us. They will be forever missed …
