Christmasberry

Christmasberry (Lycium carolinanum) is named for its showy red fruits that occur throughout the year -especially at Christmas-time.  Tiny purple flowers precede the showy fruits.

Flowers and fruits sometimes occur simultaneously on this saltmarsh succulent.  We have seen it growing on mosquito control dikes at the Oslo Riverfront Conservation Area, at the Pelican Island National Wildlife Refuge, and the Toni Robinson Waterfront Trail
